Our orphanage in Farah is called Mehr Orphanage, which means love and compassion in Pashto and Farsi. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment for orphaned children in Farah, Afghanistan. Established in 2021, our mission is to support the physical and mental development of children without parents, preparing them for a successful and fulfilling future.
At Mehr Orphanage, we firmly believe in the power of education. That’s why our mission is “4 Education, 4 Empowerment, 4 Orphans, 4 Change”.
Afghanistan has been facing war for over 50 years, resulting in one of the highest numbers of orphans worldwide. Many of these children live with underprivileged guardians who struggle to provide for their basic needs, including education. Mehr Orphanage strives to fill this gap by offering essential services and support to these vulnerable children.
Our center currently serves 92 orphaned children between the ages of 6-12, providing them with daily education in important courses such as STEM, languages & self development. All our classes are taught by qualified teachers, ensuring a high-quality education for the children. In addition to education, we also distribute monthly food packages containing flour, oil, and rice to help alleviate the burden on their guardians. The children receive new clothes, shoes, and pocket money twice a year during Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as well as uniforms and school supplies throughout the year.
Mehr Orphanage is committed to:
- Providing education and skills for a successful future.
- Strengthening the children’s sense of identity and self-worth.
- Involving the children in the broader community.
As a non-profit organisation, we rely entirely on the generosity of our donors to continue our mission. Your support helps us make a lasting impact on the lives of these children, giving them the opportunity to overcome adversity and create a better future for themselves and their communities.
